BETSIE RIVER, MICHIGAN

Saturday, September 18, 1993

After fishing the Platte heavily, I came to the state land near Wallin at dusk to find some bigger trout. I didn't see any bigger trout, but I did see a much bigger coho salmon. A couple of them in fact. The water here is extremely clear. Four foot deep holes look like they're six inches deep. Never caught anything, but I'm sure there are trout in here. The river twists and turns rapidly, creating deep holes and shallow gravel runs with little transition. There are even a couple of places to park and camp.
